Let’s have a conversation about how our healthcare system might just be catching up with one of our favorite families of the future, the Jetsons. As we begin the winter season & the daylight disappears more quickly, it seems like its nearly impossible to fit everything into a day, especially when you add a trip to your local healthcare providers into the mix. However, what if I told you that it is possible to have an appointment with many of your healthcare providers from wherever is convenient for you via a video chat. In the healthcare world, we call this Telehealth.
Healthy Eating is something that comes up a lot this time of year. It's actually something that a lot of us struggle with everyday. Even if we don't struggle with it, we meet up with food choices every single day.
As I write this today, one of my favorite friends is on her way to a small little yellow arena in Las Vegas with her 2019 Purina WPRA/AQHA Horse of the Year, High Valor.
Let's chat about surviving the winter blues. Winter is upon us across the country, so we're going to take some time to talk about some ways you can help get yourself through those winter lows, tips to help your horses stay hydrated & healthy even in the cooler weather, & we'll take some time to discuss the great "to blanket or not to blanket" debate that comes up every year.
Bbbbrrr Rabbit!!! It's cold. In fact in parts of the country it is the coldest it has been this season, thanks to the polar vortex! Also, its the beginning of a new show and rodeo season. The stock show season is in full swing. With that brings the challenge of preparing for competition in less than ideal conditions. My journey goes through the middle of an arena. This journey touches every thing on, off, and around the horse. While in college my dad had three shoulder surgeries in 10 months on his ROPING shoulder! I grew up with a roping arena in my front yard, so had he not been able to back into the box again life at our house would have drastically changed. I watched him scrap and work with his physical therapist. He and his PT got him back in the arena. Watching that experience is what drove me to become a Physical Therapist. It is no secret that healthcare costs are rising. It is definitely no secret that healthcare costs in America are the highest of the developed countries. Per capita, we spend more per person on healthcare than any other country in the world. As of January 1, 2019, it was mandated by the government that hospitals post their prices of routine medical procedures online. |
